Latin Times Media: What part of Florida do you live in – are you from Florida? If not – what brought you to Florida? Where is your family from? Carlos Guzman: I live in Orlando. We are from Puerto Rico.

Latin Times Media: Tell me about what you do for a living. Carlos Guzman: I’m an entrepreneur, investor, and real estate developer.

Latin Times Media: Tell me about what organizations you are a part of. Carlos Guzman: I’m the President/CEO of the National Puerto Rican Leadership Council Education Fund, Inc.

Latin Times Media: Tell us about the biggest highlights of your career. Carlos Guzman: The biggest highlight of my career is being able to work successfully in the “for-profit” sector and be able to effectively contribute to my community through the “non-profit” sector.

Latin Times Media: What has been your biggest challenge, and how have you been able to overcome it? Carlos Guzman: My biggest challenge is to conform myself to a 24-hour day knowing the massive amount of work pending out there. I have overcome it by surrounding myself with good people, prioritizing my work, delegating, and supervising the work done.

Latin Times Media: How important is being a Latino/Hispanic to you? Carlos Guzman: There is nothing more important than being Puerto Rican. All Puerto Ricans are Hispanic/Latinos, but not all Hispanics/Latinos are Puerto Rican. Being Puerto Rican is a privilege.

Latin Times Media: What is your favorite type of musica, and what is your favorite song? Carlos Guzman: My favorite music or song is like a fine perfume or a rare wine; it depends on the occasion.

Latin Times Media: IF you travel back in time, where/when would you go -and/or what are some of the pivotal decisions that you have made that you would do differently? Carlos Guzman: I would not travel back in time because that will imply that I have some regrets, and I have none.

Latin Times Media: Being an Inspiration to others, what wisdom can you give young Latino/Hispanics? Carlos Guzman: Be prepared and always show up on time. 99% of winning is showing up.

Latin Times Media: Tell us about what kind of projects you currently have going on. Carlos Guzman: I’m working on the Puerto Rico earthquake relief effort and other community- based projects in the mainland.

Latin Times Media: What can we expect to see from you in the future? Carlos Guzman: You’ll always see a proud Puerto Rican willing to help others.

Latin Times Media: What is your comida favorite? Carlos Guzman: “Lechón Asado a la varita” Puerto Rican style.
