Godly Business Sense

One thing I have learned throughout years of being in business, without God in the equation there is so much you are missing. There is an enormous difference between a Godly business and a business without God. 

In 2010, my wife Jolie and I did something that changed the course of our business and of our lives.  In a moment where we were going through a lot with our business, we came to a determination at 4 AM in the Morning, we must give our business, our lives, our family and everything to God -100%.  When we did that, we felt relieved but what happened to us after that is where our lives began to change.

Some people believe that when you give everything to God, then your life will be great, and things will go smoothly. Unfortunately, and most often, that is not the case, and with us it was not that way at all. We began a journey where it was to the point where we were without a house, living with someone and with no home to call our own. On one hand we were getting business, but on the other hand we were going the fire, and yet through it all, God was with us.  

We began to pray and ask God What was going on? Why were we struggling and just making it. Why was our business just making it, and why didn’t we have our own home?  

God then revealed something incredibly significant to us. He said, “When you gave me your business, your lives, and everything, I had to break the foundation that it was all built on and make a new foundation, a foundation where everything was built on me.

In 2011, God gave us the International Cuban Sandwich Festival and he blessed it tremendously. Things began to change, and God began to bring provisions of blessings on us and on the business.  We did still did our fair share of struggles but, God always would see us through them.

Through the years God blessed us with a nice property and a house, with no mortgage, and our vehicles paid in full.  When your business stands on God as the foundation, it is a business built on firm and solid ground.

In 2020 thru 2021, when the Covid Pandemic hit, many businesses suffered loss and failed, but we continued forward hosting our events even though others did not and even while suffering great losses, when my sister was killed and my wife’s father passed away, and when our oldest daughter left the house in rebellion against us, and our youngest daughter was suffering and just really going through it, even while it seemed the world was falling apart around us, God was still with us.

We were not sure how our business would survive, when through all of it, but God held our lives and our business together and God brought provision in so many ways through a time that was so uncertain.   It is important to understand that when God is at the center of your business and your life, the impossible becomes possible. Despite everything, God will bring you through every business circumstance. Currently we have our ministry Seed Ministries, Intl., (2) two Non-Profits, five (5) successful events that we host every year, a Bilingual Media company and a magazine.   To God be all the Glory for everything that we have belongs to him!   The best part is being able to bless God and bless others. Through thick and thin there was always a constant in our business, and in our lives, and it is God.

God understands business and how it works: Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Colossians 1:10 “So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Through this we began to share and consult with other business owners about how it is profoundly important to make God the Foundation of your business, and your lives, helping them to thrive and be blessed and be a blessing to others.   

I ask you today, “Where does your life and business stand?” Does your business run with your sense or with Godly business sense?” Now, I am in no way saying you are not going to have your difficulties however putting God in the equation, no matter what, you will see his hand at work, and he will help you to be highly successful.

The most important thing when it comes to business is making the right decisions and with God as your business CEO, you cannot go wrong. Remember this scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
