LTM: Tell us about what you do for a living and how you got into it.
I am the founder of two companies and an advocate for integrative health at my companies, Magical Turmeric and Jessica Wellness Skincare, we create natural products free from chemicals that silently harm the body. Each formula is developed from scratch, using guaranteed, clean, organic ingredients that are highly effective at the cellular level.
My passion for health and wellness began in my teenage years when I struggled with childhood obesity. This personal challenge led me to deeply study how the human body works and to understand that the root of many diseases, accelerated aging, and obesity lies in two main factors: malnutrition and toxicity.
By helping my patients transform their lifestyles, I identified a significant gap in the market: the lack of personal care products that are 100% natural, effective, and deliver high-performance results. I decided to take action, and in 2018, I launched my first product line with just two formulas. Today, we have grown to more than 30 products that promote health and beauty from the inside out.
LTM: In your industry, what would you say separates you from your competition?
Many factors set me apart from my competition, but the main and most important one is the source of our raw materials.
In the case of Magical Turmeric, our turmeric is grown in Venezuela and is of therapeutic quality. What makes it so special is that it is cultivated in virgin soils over 10 months, without accelerating its maturation process. This traditional cultivation ensures that turmeric is as powerful as it was in ancient times, preserving its richness in therapeutic enzymes. In contrast, turmeric from other suppliers often comes from India, the world’s largest exporter, where accelerated farming practices result in turmeric that is poor in enzymes and medicinal properties.
For Jessica Wellness Skincare, the ingredients in our formulations are carefully sourced from around the world. For example:
From the Sahara Desert, we obtain the finest date palms.
From the rainforests of Brazil, we bring buriti seeds, rich in essential vitamins.
From Indonesia and Malaysia, we work with superior-quality orchid stem cells.
These are just three examples of the exotic and high-quality ingredients I use in my formulations, but my laboratory actually holds more than 500 meticulously selected ingredients. Each one is chosen not only for its purity but also for its ability to deliver unique and effective benefits for the skin and body.
Each of our formulations is perfectly balanced in vitamin, mineral, and natural ingredient content, designed to give the skin what it needs for deep repair without disrupting the delicate hormonal system. This is crucial because most products on the market contain toxic ingredients that women unknowingly apply to their skin, accumulating in the endocrine system and contributing to premature aging and health issues.
Moreover, our skincare products are crafted in small batches to carefully preserve the quality of each one. They are like living gems full of nutrients, requiring the utmost care in production to ensure they arrive intact and pure in the hands of our customers.
My commitment is to create products that nourish, repair, and empower without compromising the health of those who use them.
LTM: Why do you feel you were nominated?
I believe it’s because of everything I’ve mentioned before. Few people work tirelessly, even going against traditional norms, with the sole purpose of improving health and, in turn, the overall quality of human life.
Beyond offering functional products that respect our biology, my primary motivation—the one that has driven me from the beginning—is to help. And it’s something I’ve accomplished, as I’ve positively impacted the health of thousands of people not only through my products but also through my courses, motivational talks, and discussions on nutrition and functional lifestyle. I don’t just want to sell you something; what I truly want is to educate you so you can choose how you want to live. My philosophy in everything I do is this: to educate you so you can improve your life and make conscious decisions about your well-being.
LTM: During COVID-19, tell us about your biggest challenge/obstacle and how you overcame it/or are overcoming it.
To be completely honest, for me, the lockdown was a wonderful opportunity for growth within my company. It gave me the time to research and learn extensively. In fact, the following year, 2021, I launched 10 new products, and in 2022, I launched 5 more products that were the result of all the work I did during the lockdown.
Additionally, it gave me the chance to share my health message with a much wider audience. My motto was: "It’s not about the virus or bacteria; what matters is the environment where it can thrive, and that environment is our body." Through this, I positively impacted many people, teaching them how to repair their immune systems.
In fact, I wrote an ebook that I gave away to support a frightened community. I taught them that fear weakens the body’s defense system and that it was the time to believe in our body’s incredible power of defense. Many people became aware of how important it is to maintain a strong and healthy body.
LTM: Tell us about your biggest achievement in business or personal life, and how you achieved it
My greatest achievement in business has been successfully entering the U.S. market with a product exported from Venezuela—a country with a highly complex political environment where exporting is a significant challenge. Despite this, we made it happen, and it stands as a major milestone for my company.
On a personal level, my greatest achievement has been mastering my mind to ensure stress doesn’t destroy my health, as stress is the main enemy of every entrepreneur. Despite the challenges, I’ve managed to overcome it. How did I do it? By using the same techniques I teach my community. I put into practice everything science tells us about the mind because it is incredibly powerful, and learning how to manage it is, without a doubt, a tremendous accomplishment.
LTM: What is next for you? What can people expect to see from you?
This year, I am developing my online wellness academy alongside the launch of my first book, "Más Chocolate, Menos Dieta" (More Chocolate, Less Diet). A new phase of awareness campaigns is on the horizon, encouraging people to become conscious of their health and how to manage it. The message is clear: health cannot be achieved by relying on a pill, as that is not true wellness. Real health means not needing one at all.
In addition, I am working on new products that complement people’s needs—products that are trustworthy and genuinely create a positive impact in their lives.
LTM: What does being a U.S. Citizen mean to you?
For me, being a resident of the United States is a wonderful gift from God, as it has allowed me to grow as an educator and entrepreneur. It’s an incredible country where all those dreams we have can come true, as long as we understand and take advantage of all the opportunities it offers.
LTM: Who is your/or was your role model in life and why?
The truth is, I’ve always been very entrepreneurial and hardworking, but I was never inspired by any one person in particular. I believe my inspiration came from the women in my own family. My maternal grandmother was an incredible woman, fearless in the face of life, who defied the norms of her time and raised her children with her talent. She cooked to sell, and I saw her own multiple properties and, most importantly, her own life. I can say that, unconsciously, she was my inspiration.
LTM: What is the best lesson that you have learned in leadership and how has it helped your career?
I believe this lesson comes from what I learned by always seeing the women in my family work and collaborate. Now, as a leader, I can say that the best way to lead is by doing—teaching through example and working as a team. Leadership is not just about giving orders; it’s about being willing to collaborate, teach, and motivate others so they can grow and develop.
LTM: What is YOUR comida Latina favorita?
Definitely the Venezuelan arepa, perfectly toasted and generously stuffed with cheese and shredded beef.
