Mario Nunez: 2024 Latin Times Magazines Lideres Award

Mario R. Núñez, born and raised Tampeño of Cuban and Puerto Rican decent has always been interested in travel and history.  After a fulfilling 30 career in the travel industry as a professional flight attendant with American Airlines, his love of Tampa history manifest the creation of "The Tampa Natives Show".  

What began as a fond look back at an earlier time in Tampa, has become a repository for salvaging her unique history and culture 'one story at a time'.  After 14 years of recorded interviews, more than 700 shows and multiple awards, Sr. Núñez senses that he is just getting started.

Mario also shares his knowledge of history and current events with listeners of WMNF radio.  The radio broadcast titled "The Conversation - meets weekly and the intersection of Community and Culture".  It's a fast paced interactive radio show featuring cohost Joe King Carter.  Together they cover a wide variety of people, places and things.

Additionally:  Mario serves as President of the Jefferson High School Alumni Board, is active in the Hillsborough County Democratic Hispanic Caucus, is primary caregiver for his parents (married 76 years) and in his spare time enjoys long visits with his two year old granddaughter accompanied by his wife of 44 years Sally.  Together they have two grown sons.
