Latin Times Magazine: Tell us about what you do for a living and how you got into it
Rosie: As brokers with S&R Services LLC, my husband Scott and I unbiasedly guide people through their Medicare options. If you are turning 65, are new to the Tampa Bay area, or are not receiving what you want from your current Medicare insurance plan, don't be scared and confused #JustcallRosie.
My God-given Purpose is to help others find theirs. I also want people to meet Jesus because they met me.
I landed in this career because of an answered Prayer. “GOD, in my new career,” I said to Him years ago, “I want to be able to speak Spanish, help people and share what you have done in my life and by the way, please do not make me a salesperson.” GOD made me a “Matchmaker” for those who need help understanding the confusing world of Medicare. My job is to listen to my clients, explain their options, and then help them find the best match for their lives. You need a servant heart for this industry and since I started doing this in 2004, mine has grown three times bigger. I am so grateful for all the wonderful people I have worked with and helped.
Latin Times Magazine: In your industry, what would you say separates you from your competition?
Rosie: My brand promise is: Knowledge, Connection, Success. Those aren’t just words to me—they are a mission. My vast connections and subject matter expertise have earned me the reputation as the go-to and get-done person in the industry, but more than that, I want to help the wonderful people I meet. I have been in this area for a long time, and there aren’t too many situations or problems I can’t match with a solution. My goal is to always simplify the information and find the best answer to benefit all the parties involved.
Latin Times Magazine: During Covid-19, tell us about your Biggest Challenge/obstacle and how you overcame it/or are overcoming it
Rosie: 2020 was a very challenging year, but I decided to tackle it head-on by embarking on a new adventure—writing a book. Ñeque: The Mindset to Get What You Want was launched on the last day of Hispanic Heritage 2020 as a tribute to the American Dream my parents sacrifice so much to achieve, and in turn give those opportunities to our family.
I wanted to help people avoid the difficult path to business ownership, because I had gone through so much starting my company when I had no business background. The back cover blurb on #Ñeque explains it all: The people who become happy success stories have one discipline in common—ñeque, an indefatigable inner grit and resilience. Ecuadorian native Rosie Paulsen came to the United States when she was in her late teens and worked hard to become successful in multiple arenas. The lessons she learned are the basis of Ñeque: The Mindset to Get What You Want, her inspiring book which can help you find your purpose and achieve a thriving, successful, and profitable business.

Within the book, I shared the lessons I learned after going through many crises, including the pandemic. To further help people who are struggling as entrepreneurs, I developed “Ñeque Academy” a twelve-module self-guided program designed to help improve resilience and achieve a thriving, successful and profitable business.
Latin Times Magazine: Tell us about your biggest achievement, and how you achieved it (Covid or non-related)
Rosie: I believe strongly in helping to better the world I live in, so I got involved in politics to have an impact on who leads our country. My biggest achievement was becoming a respected and trusted adviser for local and national political campaigns. That led to my position as Regional Engagement Coordinator for Latinos for Trump in Florida as part of the Republican National Committee. There, I assisted in cultivating impactful relationships, expanding the Republican reach, and increasing support for President Trump. 38% of the Florida votes cast for President Trump were from the Hispanic Community and I am proud I was a part of that effort. I presently serve as a Commissioner for the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, appointed in February 2019 by Senate President Bill Galvano. In 2021, I was elected as the Secretary for the Executive Board of Directors as Secretary.
Latin Times Magazine: What is next for you? What can people expect to see from you?
Rosie: Since releasing #Ñeque: The Mindset to Get What You Want in 2020, I have launched my speaking career. I have several paid speaking engagements lined up, focusing on the following topics:

• Leadership
• Civic Engagement
• Entrepreneurship
• Women’s Empowerment
Latin Times Magazine: What does being a U.S. Citizen mean to you?
Rosie: When I was a ten-year-old girl living in Ecuador, I had a hard time playing soccer because back then (over forty years ago), soccer was not a ladylike sport. I was a good goalkeeper so they let me play but I still had to negotiate and lead my way onto teams because of my gender. One day I met a female missionary who was easily included in the games with the boys because she was an American. I became intrigued and learned everything I could about America. I loved that Americans have a strict sense of values about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, rights that are given to us by our Creator. After a lot of effort, my family and I moved to this country in 1988. We have all become assets to our society because we love this country. I often tell people I am an Ecuadorian by birth, Hispanic by heritage, and an American by choice. I have embraced and accepted this country and am grateful I get to live my American dream every day, and that I live in a country where I can break the glass ceiling over and over again.
Latin Times Magazine: What is your opinion of the situation in our nation? Rosie: We are in trouble. Our country is going downhill fast, gas has increased to the point where you have to think twice before going somewhere, we lost thirteen young soldiers, and are on the brink of a civil war. We have also armed our enemies, giving them the tools to attack us. Christians are being prosecuted and killed for our faith every day. The minority is trying to change the essence of who we are as Americans, schools are indoctrinating children to not be proud patriots, and they are told lies about lies about regimes and dictators who committed genocide on their own people. We are heading down a bad path as a nation but we can all work together to change it!
Latin Times Magazine: What words of encouragement can you offer?
Rosie: Stay Pure, Positive, and Inspired! Being happy is a choice we make every single day; life happens and there is nothing we can do about that, however, the attitude of how we handle those experiences is ours to own.
Start with being grateful and by acknowledging what you have. Then you will not have room to envy what you do not have, because you will realize how blessed you already are. It’s all about your mindset and how you choose to see things,

My "Where's Rosie?" movement is a community-led awareness campaign highlighting events in the area alongside my "Pure, Positive, and Inspiring Ideas."
Rosie Paulsen Enterprises "passionately helps business owners succeed" as part of our motto. Small businesses run 70% of the economy of the United States. That was part of what drove me to discuss the four components of Purpose, Persist, Persevere, and Pivot in my book. Ñeque Academy is my 12-module course that implements those four components, allowing people to accelerate their knowledge of how they can make an impact while also earning a living. I am also the host of the show “Cafecito with Rosie”. I believe that once you succeed, you should give back, which is why my family and I have opened the RPE-Business Resource Center in the heart of Town & Country, as a place where business owners can find resources, showcase who they are, what they do, and how they help the community.
Latin Times Magazine: What is YOUR comida Latina favorita?
Rosie: “Seco de Pollo” y arroz Blanco o Amarillo. This is a typical Ecuadorian food that is easy to make. You can use any type of meat; my sister has even adapted it to be vegan for my niece. To make it, you blend onions, peppers, and tomato with a little bit of water, add achiote and beer and parsley, then the chicken, cover and cook until then chicken is done. Serve over rice.
